Blue birds this time!

My friend Kendall saw the pink bird nest cupcakes I helped decorate for a GIRL baby shower and asked if she could hire me to make some blue birds for a BOY baby shower she was hosting.
And of course I said "Yes!"

When the kids got home from school on Friday I was in the kitchen decorating away.  They saw the cupcakes and immediately wanted to eat them.  I told them that the cupcakes were NOT for them and the answer was NO!  Ethan then explained that he didn't want one with frosting on it, he wanted one plain.  I told him that I was being paid to make these cupcakes and the order was for 24, and 24 cupcakes was exactly how many I had made.  So ALL OF THEM were NOT for him!  He thought about it for a second and then his response cracked me up,  "So... you're a professional
cupcake maker now?"
Well, I guess I am!

Our Kindergarten Girl!

On Thursday, August 27th
Reagan started kindergarten.

She has been so excited about going to the
same school as her brothers!
This was a big day!
In preparation for her big day;  Reagan was as brave as ever getting her kindergarten shots, I went to vital records in Arizona to obtain her birth certificate so that she could be registered, she got a new kindergarten hair cut, new kindergarten clothes...
And new kindergarten shoes!

She placed her most favorite star (Hannah Montana) on her most favorite school bag (my old diaper bag).  And she was ready to go!

Her teacher is Mrs. Barns and she is in the same exact classroom that Carsten was in for kindergarten.

We snapped a quick picture as all the children gathered on the rug for the first time on their first day of kindergarten!

But by far I think the most exciting thing about being in kindergarten for Reagan is that she gets to
RIDE THE BUS!
When she came home from her first day of school she went on and on about the bus and all the awesomeness that goes along with riding it!

ReAL SALT LAKE Soccer!

Tom and Max invited David and Ethan to go with them to a ReAL game.  Ethan was so excited to go!  When he found out they were also going to The Mayan for dinner, he was thrilled!

Ethan told me all about it when he got home,(which means, he loved it!) the stadium, the game, the score, everything!  I think that they all had a good time.  It was David's first time to the stadium and he said it was pretty cool.
Thanks Tom for thinking of us Aid's when you've got extra tickets on your hands.  We love it!

Carsten's walking!

SLEEP WALKING that is!
Last night about an hour after the kids fell asleep David and I heard someone coming down the stairs.  Usually when we hear a kid coming down the stairs they end up coming into our bedroom.  We then take care of whatever it is the child needs and send them back to bed.
Last night was different!  Nobody came to our room and we didn't hear anyone go back upstairs either.  We waited a few minuets and then David went to see who had come down the stairs.  All the lights had been turned on and when David went into the kitchen he found the back door wide open.  His first thought was that Bradon must have gone outside.  He peeked outside and yelled for Bradon.  Our neighbor Michele called back to David.  She told him that Carsten had gone to her house and knocked on her door.  David came running into our bedroom where I was and told me that Carsten was sleep walking and had gone to the Gledhill's.  I ran into the kitchen and there Carsten was standing in nothing but his underwear!  Poor little guy!  He was confused and not totally awake yet.  In fact I'm not quite sure he ever fully woke up at all.  David sent him back to bed and I called Michele on the phone.  She said that she was in her office and heard a faint knock at the door and could hear someone outside crying.  When she looked though her peep hole she saw Carsten standing there in nothing but his underwear.  She opened the door and tried talking with him.  She tried to figure out why he was at her house at 11:00 at night in his underwear.  He did a lot of shrugging his shoulders and saying, "I don't know!" in a confused whinny voice.  She asked him if he wanted to go back home and he said yes.  She walked him home and when she got to our backyard that's when David peeked his head outside and called for Bradon.
This morning when I questioned Carsten about the whole sleep walking ordeal he didn't remember anything except walking back into our house from the backyard.  When I told him what he had done and that he had done it in nothing but his underwear he said, "No I didn't!"
Needless to say, Carsten went to bed in pajamas tonight!

David and I are so grateful that Michele was awake sitting in her office where she could hear Carsten's faint little knock and bring him back to safety.  What a scary thing to have your child leave the house while sleep walking!  Carsten has slept walked before, but he has never left the house!  I guess we will need to take some extra precautions and put latches on the doors to prevent him from escaping again.
We love our little Carsten and would just die if something bad happened to him.

GAME DAY!

On Saturday, August 22nd
It was GAME DAY around here!
The boys had their first football game of the season.  It was a day filled with excitement running from game to game.  It was a day where you could feel football in the air!

Carsten's game was against Westlake.
They beat em' 58-18!  Carsten played the whole entire game.  He started offense and defense and LOVED every minuet of it!  He scored 1 touchdown stiff arming a few guys to do it, and ran it in for 2 extra points another time.  He's quite the animal on the football field.  It was fun for me to watch some of the father on the sidelines react as they saw Carsten lay a few guys out.  They were like, "Who is that 33?  Did you see that?"  I was like, "That's my son!"  Way to go Carsten!

Bradon's game was against Jaun Diego.
They beat em' 28-6!  Bradon is playing center again this year and loves it.  He is taking an active leadership role on the offensive line telling players where they need to be.  He is also playing defensive line.  It's fun to see how much he has learned and developed as a football player over the years.
It's fun watching your kids doing something they love!

I don't want to take a nap!

Talan has learned how to crawl out of his crib.
The other day after putting him bak in his crib time and time again we finally gave up and decided he could go without a nap.  We later found him crashed out on a pile of dirty laundry in the laundry room.  There is just almost nothing cuter!
Sweet dreams little man!

Free Spa Day!

Me, Kristen, Lisa, Staci, Cheryl and Christy.

Staci, Kristen and myself just before our massage.
None of these pictures turned out for some unknown reason.  I don't know what was up with my camera but this is the best I could come up with.

For my sister Kristen's birthday she had a spa party at Free Spa (my brother's spa).  My mom flew me down to Arizona for the weekend, Cheryl gave me her spa credits and I literally spa-ed for FREE!  It was a fabulous weekend!  I had an 80 min. massage and a pedicure along with a tour of the Gilbert spa, unlimited soda with fabulous ice, great conversation, company and laughs.  It was almost like a birthday for ME, minus the birthday!  I went kid free and enjoyed 2 restful nights of sleep!  It was just what the doctor ordered before I shipped the kids off to school.

Thanks David for being so willing to let me go, for taking a day off work to watch the kids and missing out on the opening weekend of the hunt.  You are truly the BEST!  Thanks Mom for flying me down, thanks Cheryl for giving me a day at the spa on you, and thanks Kristen for inviting me.  It was the best birthday party I could have had for YOUR birthday!  And while I'm doing thank you's, thanks Dad  for carting me around and taking me downtown to get new birth certificates for the kids.

School is COOL!

The boys went
back to school this week!
School is COOL... if you ask me!

Ethan is in the 6th grade and his teacher is Mrs. Gregory.  Mrs. Gregory just had her first baby 1 week ago so her mother in law (Mrs. Gregory) will be her sub for the first 5 weeks of school until she comes back.
Bradon is in the 4th grade and his teacher is Mr. Horan.  This will be Mr. Horan's second year teaching.  He's young and all the kids think he's pretty fun!
Carsten is in the 2nd grade and his teacher is Miss Cox.  Bradon had Miss Cox 2 years ago and so Carsten was hoping to have her as well.  She's pretty familiar with us and believe it or not she seemed pretty excited to have Carsten in her class.
Reagan is starting kindergarten next week.  Her teacher is Mrs. Barns.  I'll post pictures of her big first day next week.
So 4 of our 5 kids will be going to the same school this year.  This will be the only time this will ever happen.  I'm pretty excited about it!
I hope that the kids all have a great year!

Football season has begun!

So we are back in the swing of things!
Our more than busy schedule has resumed!
Let the craziness of driving the kids to and fro
and being pulled in all directions begin!

Ethan is starting up Karate again on the 18th.
Bradon and Carsten are playing football
with practices everyday until school starts.
Reagan is playing soccer.
And Talan is luckily too young to be in anything yet!

Wish me luck with this FUN yet BUSY season!

Goodbye cute little curly locks!

Talan finally had his first haircut!
He had 'business in front and party in back' going on and it was long overdue for a cut!
I took him to a cute place called Cookie Cutters.
He sat in a cute little car and watched Baby Einstein while he had his hair cut.

Look at those curly locks!

Talan did so good!  No crying, no fussing, and he held pretty still!  Toward the end of the cut he became distracted so our hairstylist brought out some bubbles.

I love this picture!  It's like, "Lady, what are you doing?"

Look at our NEW little boy!  He's not a baby anymore!
He looks all grown up!

And last but not least, a little product to spike up the front!

When his haircut was all done they gave him a balloon attached to an american flag COOKIE CUTTER and a sucker.  It was overall a wonderful 1st haircut experience!
