Dance Festival

Today Freedom Elementary School had their traditional Dance Festival.  David took the day off work so that he could go and support his kids.

Reagan was strutting her Freedom shirt, showing a little school spirit along with a little attitude!

The Dance Festival was really fun!  This was our families first dance festival because last year we went to Arizona the last week of school.  Now I know why everyone gets so excited for the dance festival.  I think that I would have loved being in a school dance festival when I was a kid.

They had the dance festival out on the field.  The entire student body sat in seats forming a big square and facing the middle of the square.  All the parents sat or stood around them.  One grade at a time the kids ran to the middle of the square and preformed their dance.  Carsten along with the entire Kindergarten preformed a Hawaiian dance to the Hukilau!
It was very cute!  Carsten knew the dance and knew the songs.  He was looking good in his new hawaiian shirt and mohawk!

Ethan and the 4th grade did a square dance.  They had to dance with girls!  This was a big topic of discussion around here for the last month or so.  Not a girl!  Gross!  But secretly I think he and his friends enjoyed it!  David ran out and bought this new fancy cream colored cowboy hat so that Ethan could dress the part!  I think that he looks cute!  The other 2 boys in the picture are Ethan's friends Marcus (in the black hat) and Max.  Cute kids!  I think they did great!

Bradon and the 2nd grade did some kind of african safari dance.  Bradon had to dance with a girl but I heard nothing of it.  Apparently it was no big deal to him!  Bradon was all business when it came to dancing!  He was very serious!  He knew the dance very well and did a great job!

I'm so proud of all the boys and it was a lot of fun watching them preform.

Buzz cuts!

On Sunday before church the boys were complaining about having to have their hair done.  We told them that if they didn't what to do their hair we could just buzz them!
 They chose the buzz!

It's probably a good choice for summer but I'm having a hard time getting use to it!  They look like skinheads!  Well, cute skinheads!

And then Carsten went with the mohawk!
He's been telling us for a few years now that he was going to have a mohawk.  Last week a kid from our ward who is also in Carsten's class at school showed up with a mohawk and that's all the motivation Carsten needed.  Mohawk it is!  Now the mohawk I defiantly can't get use to!
I asked him how long he thinks he wants to keep it and he said,
"All summer!"
That's our Carsten!

Our son Carsten

Carsten is our 3rd child and our 3rd son.  Carsten is 6 years old and in Kindergarten.  He goes to Freedom Elementary School and his teacher is Mrs. Beutler.  Carsten has loved being in Kindergarten but I think that he will like ALL DAY 1st grade even better!  Carsten loves to be going and doing all day long!  I think he gets pretty bored around here all the time so ALL DAY school will be perfect for him!

Carsten is a good kid, with a good heart, with LOTS of energy!  He is a people person and loves to make people laugh.  He thinks he's pretty funny!  Carsten has lots of friends and enjoys playing whenever he can.

Carsten is as tough as nails!  He is fast and strong!  He has been known as the bowling ball and a little ball of fire!  Carsten is a fun kid to watch no matter what he is doing!  This last year he took gymnastics, he played basketball, baseball is just about to start and in the fall he will be playing tackle football.  He is really pretty good at gymnastics and has an awesome roundoff!  Basketball was new for him this year and he did pretty good with it too!  He was always in constant motion jumping around.  It was tiring just to watch him!  Baseball should be fun but football is what we are all anticipating!  However the other day when we signed him up to  play he told us that he had decided not to play.  After talking to him about it he finally told me that he didn't want to get tackled, because being tackled hurts!  I told him that if he would just run fast enough than they wouldn't be able to tackle him.  I guess that he decided that he would try that because he wants to play again!

Carsten is so much fun to be around and to have in our family.  He keeps things fun and entertaining!  He is a good brother to all his siblings.  Carsten and his sister Reagan have a special relationship.  They spend a lot of time together and some days I think that it's more of a love/hate thing, but it works!  She thinks the world of him!  No matter how much he makes her cry, she always wants to be with Carsten.  Carsten absolutely loves his new brother Talan.  I don't think that he can ever walk past him without giving him a little kiss on the cheek.

We love our Carsten and we are so happy that he's in our family!
I've added Carsten's favorite song to our playlist. Bad day by Daniel Powter.

Two Special Babies

Kanon Mehlberg
Kanon was born on March 3, 2008 in Mesa, Arizona.
His mom and dad are my good friends, Brian and Jennifer Mehlberg.
Kanon was born with a rare genetic blood disorder called Hemophagocytic Lympho Histiocytosis or better known to me as HLH.

Kanon's older brother Kohen had this same disorder.  Kohen passed away at 1 month old about 3 years ago.  This disorder is something that doctors are not able to detect until the baby is born.  Because of Brian and Jenny's experience with Kohen they had doctors ready to check Kanon out and take care of him in the event that he had the same disorder.  So this time the doctors were able to get to work on this rare blood disorder 2 weeks earlier than they were able to with Kohen.  We are all hoping and praying that the 2 extra weeks will be enough to get him through.

Right now Jenny and Kanon are in Tucson Arizona for his transplant.  They should be there for several months.  Kanon has had to go through chemotherapy to kill his bone marrow and a bone marrow transplant.  He is very sick and not feeling well at all.  He has sores in his mouth and down his throat and a rash all over his body.  This is all due to the process of a bone marrow transplant.  A few days ago they had to intebate Kanon to give his throat time to heal.

My heart aches for Jenny and all that she has to endure.  She is a tough girl though.  She has a strong testimony and love for her Heavenly Father.  She has always been a great influence and example to me.  I love her dearly and her sweet baby Kanon!

Jenny has recently started a blog to keep everyone informed on what is happening.  I have a link to her blog under: Friends blogs.  Just click on The Mehlberg Family.

We have been praying for Kanon in our family and hope that others will join us.

Gracie Gledhill
Gracie was born on March 20, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Her parents are Tom and Michele Gledhill.  Tom and Michele are our neighbors.  Our kids are all the same ages and play with each other all the time.
Gracie was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS).  This is a severe heart defect that will require at least 3 open heart surgeries by the time she is 4 years old.

This is a picture of Gracie after her first open heart surgery.  I think she was only 4 days old.
Gracie is a tough little fighter!  Her parents thought that they were going to lose her, they said their goodbye's and miraculously she surprised us all and is still here today.

She's had her ups and downs along the way but seems to improve as she goes.
We have been praying for little Gracie girl and hope and pray that she will beat the odds and be a fun friend for Talan someday.

What a doll!  This is a recent picture of Gracie in her first outfit ever!

Our hearts go out to the Gledhills and hope that you can join us in prayer for baby Gracie.
Michele has a blog journaling their journey.  I have a link to it, just click on The Gledhill Family.

Kanon and Gracie are two very special babies that have been on my mind everyday since they have been born.  I am so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who loves us enough to bless us with tender mercies and miracles each and everyday.  I know that our Heavenly Father will never give us more than we can endure.  I also know that He is always right there to help us through our trials if we just let him.  I have a good friend Shari who's daughter Hailee has survived leukemia.  She has a sign at her house that says "I know that God won't give me more than I can handle, I just wish He wouldn't trust me so much!"  So cute and so true!  Hang in there guys.  We love you and will be praying for you.  If there is anything we can do to lighten your load, let us know, we would love to help!

Our son Bradon.

This is a picture of Bradon after his baptism.

Bradon is our second child.  He is eight years old and in the 2nd grade.  He goes to Freedom Elementary School and Miss Cox is his teacher.  Bradon love sports and anything outside.  This is one kid always on the go!  Bradon works hard, he plays hard and he sleeps very little!

Bradon plays football, baseball, and basketball.  I think that football is his favorite as of right now though.  For the last 2 years Bradon has played tackle football.  He absolutly loves it!  He was the center both years.  The first year he got the job because he was the only kid on the team that could palm the football.  The second year he got the job because he was the best at it!  He loves it and I'm sure he hopes to get the job as playing center again this coming season.  We have so much fun watching him and cheering him on.

Bradon has lots of friends and has no problem finding new ones wherever we go.  Last week when we went to The Mayan for my birthday, the boys went down to get a better view of the show.  When it was time to go we went down to get them and a little boy said to Bradon, "Hey, where are you going?"  Bradon told him that he had to go home.  The kid told Bradon goodbye and then I asked him who the little boy was.  Bradon said, "He's my friend."  I asked him if he was a friend from school.  He said, 'No, I just met him!"  That's my Bradon, very social!  The door bell rings several times a day with neighborhood kids asking to play with Bradon.

Bradon is very hard working and helpful around the house.  Every saturday morning when he wakes up he asks his dad what jobs he needs to do so that he can play with his friends.  He quickly gets to work, and gets the jobs done.

Bradon has a very tender heart and sweet spirit.  He is a people person and goes out of his way to be kind to others.  Everyday when I drop him off at school he gives me a little hug and tells me that he loves me.  I love hearing him say it!  Even on days when our morning is crazy and I'm about to pull my hair out, and I lecture the kids all the way to school, he still looks me in the eyes and says, "I love you mom, I'll see you after school."  Bradon is a good kid!

David and I are proud of Bradon and thrilled that he is our son!  We love him very much and hope that he knows and feels just how much we love him!

I have added to our song playlist Bradon's favorite song.
'Won't go home without you' by Maroon 5.

Darth Adair, the Talan Vader!

Could I be any cuter?

The other day Ethan had the idea to put his Darth Vader helmet on Talan, give him a light saber and take his picture.  At first Ethan said, "We'll call him Darth Talan!"  Later we decided that Talan Vader sounded better.
Or he could just be, Darth Adair!

 Talan loved that light saber!

Another photo shoot with Talan.

Talan is 4 1/2 months and full of smiles!
He is just so much fun!
It has gotten to where Talan just cracks up laughing over almost anything!
He is easily amused by everything!
Look at those cute chunker thighs!  I love em!

I put Talan in his new ASU outfit and took a few pictures.
When David saw this picture he said, It looks like he's cheering!  Go ASU!

I realize that he looks a little funny in this picture.  But I wanted to show everyone what Talan has been doing with his tongue lately.  He makes it all fat and hard and then rubs his gums with it.  Too funny!  I think that he is really working it in this picture!  Oh that feels so good!
He loves for his gums to be rubbed.  Poor kid, I think that he's in for a long hard teething process!

Spring Flowers

I love tulips!
These are some of the tulips out front.  Aren't they beautiful!
I just love them!  Tulips are by far my favorite flower!

This is our second spring in Utah.  Last year I wanted to plant flowers all over the place because flowers seem to grow so well here.  Well, I got pregnant with Talan and found myself feeling sick most of the time, and so the flowers never got planted.  So this year, I got to work!  I planted petunias all over!
I have them under each tree that lines the street,

And in all my flower beds.
This is our flower bed in the back yard.  Aren't they cute?
I am really excited to see them get big!

And yes, I've got flowers in by the front door too!
I just love flowers!

May 12th, It's my birthday!

I'm 35 years old!
I had a wonderful birthday!  when I woke up David was still home.  I thought that he must have forgot to set his alarm.  I quickly woke him up and he said that he was taking the day off so that I could have fun with my friends.
So I got ready and went and got my nails done.  While I was at the nail place Shari and Keri, 2 good friends of mine came walking in with a balloon, a soda and a big huge doughnut.
It was a little embarrassing but totally fun at the same time!
After getting my nails done I called a few of my friends and 6 of us went to The Pizza Factory for lunch.  Barbara Trane, Laurie Harley, Jennie Godwin, Keri Eagar, Shari Iverson and myself.  It was a lot of fun!  After lunch, when the kids got home from school, we went to The Jordan Commons to go to the movie and dinner.  We saw the movie Ironman and then went to dinner at The Mayan.  It was a lot of fun and the kids had a total blast!

They put on a fire show with Mayan Indian cliff divers!
Can you see Ethan and Bradon in the crowd watching the show?

When we got home we used to big doughnut my friends brought me earlier, and sang happy birthday to me!  All the kids helped me blow out the candles.
David and the kids got me a new pair of sunglasses for my birthday since my little princess recently broke my last pair.  I told David that I wanted a cheap pair since I still have little hands, all around me, all the time!  He got me a pair of really nice Armani ones!  I really like them!  I guess that I'll just have to be extra careful!
What an awesome day!

Party at Jay and Vicky's

These are a few random pictures we took
over at Jay and Vicky's house on Mother's Day.

Jay asks Reagan, "Where's my hug?" and she comes running!
Reagan loves her Great Uncle Jay!

Heidi and her youngest son Marcus.  Isn't he a cute one!  He has big tears running down his face, but I don't know why!  Still cute non the less!

This is Jeremy and RuthAnn's youngest and newest
addition to their family, Benjamin.

Reagan and Vanessa out on the deck eating some ice cream cake!

A whole group of them eating that cake!
Luke, Russell, Vanessa and Reagan.

Bradon and Ethan out on the tire swing!
Good times!

Carsten with his new spiky hair doo!
I'm not sure what he's doing!

And back at home when it is all said and done,
Talan protests, "No more parties!"

Mother's Day gifts full of LOVE!

Mother's Day morning right before we left for church the kids wanted me to open up my mother's day present they got for me.  I guess that David took them to Thanksgiving Point and let them pick something out for me, from all of them.  They got me this cool Rooster!  It's hard to see in this picture but it has little chicks at it's feet.  It's very cute and it will go great in my kitchen!  They also got me a bouquet of flowers and gourmet maltballs, my favorite!  David said that he didn't help them pick it, they knew just what they wanted to get me.  Cute huh?  They know me well!

These are all the things they made me at school.

Reagan planted a flower for me at preschool
and made me 2 Mothers Day cards.

Carsten made this cool plate at school.  He also made this card that has 4 flowers one it.  Each flower has a job on the back that he will do for me when I pick the flower!  Awesome, I love when my kids do jobs for me!

Bradon planted me a flower too!
He also drew a picture of me with a poem!

To Mother
Little birds have a mom to bring them juicy bugs.
Little bunnies have a mom to bring them bunny hugs.

Little fishes have a mom to help them off the hook.
Little bookworms have a mom to help them find a book.

Little kittens have a mom to help them wash their faces.
Little puppies have a mom to keep them in their places.

Little bullfrogs have a mom to teach them how to croak.
Little acorns have a mom to say ther're oakey-doak.

Little monkeys have a mom to show them monkey shines.
Little flowers have a mom to chase the dandelions.

But they'd say their moms were swell if only they could tell us,
But guess it's good they don't know YOU cause OH would they be jealous!

Ethan made me a bouquet of tissue flowers, a punch card worth 11 vacuum jobs and a poem he wrote himself!  The poem says:
Mother's Day
A Mother's Day Poem
Just for you.  Cleaning teaching
Is what you do best
Fourth of July, Easter day
But Mother's Day is the best.
By: Ethan Adair

So there you have it,
 A WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY!
I love my children so much and I'm am so grateful for the opportunity I have in raising them!  What a enormous responsibility Heavenly Father has entrusted me with!  I am lucky to have good kids who love their Heavenly Father and have a desire to choose the right.  I am also lucky to have a wonderful husband who I am nothing without!
David thinks he's so funny every mother's day when he tells me that he's not getting me anything for mother's day because I'M NOT HIS MOTHER!  (I think that my dad taught him this trick!  Thanks Dad!)  But then he always comes through by making sure that the children do their best in celebrating me and letting me know how much they love me.  That in itself is the best gift, LOVE!
