Photo Proof!

Carsten came in the house to tell me that we have a mouse in our garage. Really? A mouse? We have mouse traps in our garage that our highly expensive bug and pest exterminating crew set for us. Really? A mouse?
Carsten ran out to the garage with the camera.
Look mom! A MOUSE!
I don't see a mouse.
Then he zoomed in for me.
A MOUSE!
Well holy Hannah Montanah!
We have a mouse!
Well at least it's not a mouse in the house!
It's just a mouse in the garage.
A mouse in the house is much worse than a mouse in the garage.... RIGHT?

Grandma Adair

We love Grandma Adair!
Grandma came to visit us for 4 weeks. It was 4 weeks of lots of activities and ball games. We probably wore her out dragging her here and there and everywhere but hope that somehow she found away to enjoy every minute of it!

At the end of her stay David sat down to figure out just how many of the kids ball games she watched while here. A little over 30 is what he figured! OH MY GOSH! Now that's a lot of ball games! No wonder I was so tired!

Grandma is an absolute treat to have around! She loves to play games, put puzzles together and spoil her grand kids! She pays close attention to what they like to eat and makes sure to buy it for them while she's here. There are lots of things that I DON'T SPEND MONEY ON. Like for example... Sunny delight! I know the kids like it but It's just one of those things I don't buy. So when Grandma comes, they get to have a little Sunny D! What a treat!

After Grandma went home we all got to thinking and decided that Grandma needs to come back! There is just no sense in her being in that awful Arizona heat. Not to mention ALONE! Yes Yes Yes I know she's not really alone because Kenzlee lives with her... but really, SHE'S ALONE! I am a people person and can't fathom the thought of feeling lonely! And after spending a lifetime of raising and serving your children I don't think that ANY MOTHER should be lonely! I would much rather Jeannine being here with us and feeling a little annoyed with my rowdy children than feeling lonely! Jeannine is way to great!

So we have extended an open ended invitation for Grandma Adair to come live with us for as long as she would like. We hope she takes us up on our offer and knows that we love her more than anything and that she in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM a burden.

Summer Family Tradition

We've lived in Utah for 5 years now and we have been to the Lehi Roundup Rodeo all 5 years! I think that makes it a FAMILY TRADITION!

We love the rodeo!
This year the rodeo and Bradon and Carsten's All-Star tournament fell on the same weekend. We knew we didn't want to miss the rodeo so we spent the extra money to go on FULL PRICE Saturday night instead of FAMILY NIGHT Thursday were kids tickets are just $4.00 each. It was a splurge... But well worth it!

So this year after a long hot day of baseball games and Bradon winning his tournament we headed home to get ready for the rodeo. Grandma Adair come with us too! This was her second Lehi Roundup rodeo in a row!

Every year we have sat in the same section of the stands. We have always sat in the same couple of rows too! We think it's the best spot in the house! It's close to the front but not so close that the fence is in the way. It's right where the bucking shoots face. So when the horses and bulls come out of the shoot they seem to always come in our direction. It's even close enough so that when the clown wants to pick on someone in the audience to embarrass, it could actually end up being you! And one year he it was! He embarrassed David pretty good!

These rodeo guys are amazing!
Amazing and crazy all at the same time!

Every year they do like a little half time show with these motorcycle dudes! Now talk about CRAZY! These guys are insanely crazy!

AND TALAN LOVED THEM!

Those loud rumbling motorcycles come out and Talan's little heart screamed out "THIS IS AWESOME!" Or at least that's how I interpreted the look on his face!

To tell you the truth I kind of love it too! But never do I watch them without a little bit of fear in my heart! What they do is so dangerous! And scary! So a little FYI to my 4 sons.... You can love to WATCH it all you want, but don't ever think your going to DO IT ever! That and bull riding are 2 things I don't think my heart could handle!

And then finally the ladies took the show!

And last but not least the CRAZY BULL RIDERS! I don't know about you but bull riding is NOT on my bucket list! That is one thing I hope to never experience in this lifetime!

On Saturday night when the rodeo is over they let everyone come out into the arena and play. They had a DJ and line dancing. We didn't participate in the line dancing but the kids sure had fun running around in that soft dirt! Talan was in little boy heaven!

Do you want to buy a waterfall?

I
know that I'm always saying how funny Talan is but seriously this kid is too much! I don't know where he comes up with his material but he's hilarious! I guess this is what happens when your #5 surrounded by all older siblings!
Before I forget I have to tell about just a few of the funny things Talan has said this morning.

Before church I had all the kids take baths. Talan and Carsten took a bath together. They were playing together nicely and then I heard Talan ask Carsten, "Do you want to buy a waterfall?" and then he splashed him in the face! It totally took Carsten by surprise! I thought, where has he heard that before? I went around the house asking all the kids if they had ever said it. All of them hadn't ever said it before but thought it was pretty darn funny!

After the sacrament was passed at church and it was really quiet he said in a pretty loud voice, "I need a samwich!" I asked him why he needed a sandwich and he said, "Because I don't have one in my tummy!" So just before the last speaker spoke I decided to take the poor starving child home for a "samwich." As we were walking out to the car he said, "Where's Spencer's car?" {Spencer is the 16 year old boy who lives next door to us.} "Spencer's car is so AWESOME!"

What 3 year old talks like this?

Anyways Talan has enlightened me with this waterfall question. I've decide that I'm just going to start asking the kids if they want to buy a spanking. And if I feel like they really deserve it, after they answer "NO!" I'm going to tell them that they are in luck because today I'm giving them out for FREE! I tried it out on Carsten and it really worked! The first time I asked him if he wanted to buy a spanking he didn't see it coming. But the second time I asked, he quickly became obedient! I'm liking this! Because seriously, when your child is getting a spanking it's because they have deserved it! They have paid for it! They bought it! And when someone buys something...
You better give it to them!

All-Stars

Bradon and Carsten both played on All-Stars this year. The All-Stars tournament was the weekend after the regular season tournament was over. Carsten's team if I remember right had 1 regular practice that lasted around 30 min. and I batting practice. Bradon's team practiced at least 6 times but I don't think they ever had a practice with the whole team there. I was interested in seeing what this All-Star tournament would turn out like.

Both Bradon and Carsten's first tournament games were extremely hard to watch. It was like watching the bad news bears! First of all every player on both of their teams, if you asked them what position they played they would all say pitcher or short stop. Well not everyone on the team can play pitcher and short stop at the same time so boys have to show that they are true All-Stars and adjust to a new position really fast. Everyone litterally played as if they hadn't ever played the game of baseball a day in their life! It was seriously pathetic! I probably sound like a terribly unsupportive mother with no tolerance but I don't think that I was the only parent thinking this very same thing. I seriously started thinking after watching both of their first games that we had wasted our money. I thought, well actually I said to David..."Note to self, next year let's take the money we would have spent on All-Stars and do something else with it! Anything else with it!"

Well fortunately by the second game both teams improved tremendously! It was like watching two whole different teams! We all started feeling a little better about the whole situation. Carsten's team ended up losing in the semi finals. And Bradon's team ended up winning 1st place of the constellation bracket. {By the way, the word constellation bracket is just a really nice way of saying the looser's bracket.}

And now for the photos!

I didn't get one picture of any of Carsten's All-Star games. I brought my camera to one of the games and when I remembered that I needed to take a picture he was in the dugout and every time I tried to get him to look at the camera he would duck out of the picture and act silly.

Now Bradon on the other hand informed me that I don't take enough pictures of him. So I made sure to take lots and lots of pictures of Bradon.

Bradon is such a cute kid.
He's a good kid too!

His All-Stars team was made up of all major league 11 year olds but they played in the division of 11 and 12 year olds. The first tournament game {the one that was so hard to watch} they got paired up with our same leagues minor league 11 and 12 year old team. Bradon's good friend Max was on that team. So that first game was like insult to injury if you know what I mean! Well Max's team must have lost a game along the way because we both ended up in the constellation bracket and we got to play them again. It was fun because this time our boys actually looked like baseball players and we ended up beating them.

But what was really fun was watching Bradon and Max playing against each other. Max pitches and so you know when Bradon got up to bat Max wanted nothing more than to strike him out.

Bradon hit a little blooper right back at Max.

And Max threw him out at first!

Bradon has found that when it's sunny outside it's a lot easier for the ball to get lost in the sun. So he's added shades to his baseball attire! Pretty cool huh?

On the All-Star team he played a lot of left field. Naturally! He's good at it! After one of the inning when the coach was telling all the kids where to go play in the field I heard Bradon say, "Not left field again!" So unlike Bradon to complain! I yelled out, "Bradon if you don't want to play left field then where do you want to play?" He answered in a whining tone, "Anywhere but left field!" Right then one of the assistant coaches pulled Bradon aside and gave him a little pep talk about how he was the leader on the team blah blah blah... When I asked him what his coach said to him he just kind of rolled his eyes and in a sarcastic tone said, "Oh he said that I was the leader on the team because I've played super league and stuff and I was the best one in the outfield..." Bradon didn't seem too impressed with the coaches compliments. I couldn't tell if it was that he didn't believe his coach or if he was thinking, tell me something I don't know!

I love the double hat look!

Another time when Bradon got up to bat Max was playing first base. At this time Bradon's team was winning by quite a bit. Bradon had 3 balls on him and got the sign from his coach to not swing. Bradon leaned forward and stuck his bat out like he was going to bunt. And then started shaking the bat up and down as to taunt the pitcher. I thought what in the heck is he doing? As the pitch was pitched Bradon pulled the bat back. The pitch was a ball and he took his base.

As he jogged to first base Max with a huge smile on his face shook his head and said, " Oh my gosh! Nice Bradon! Nice!"

You could tell that they were bantering back and forth at each other just messing around. Nothing better than a little fun game of talking smack!

Bradon stole second base.

And then eventually made it home!
When he came back to the dugout I asked why he was acting like he was going to bunt and why was he all showy about it? He said, "I did that for Max! He hates when people do that!" Seriously that made it all the more funny!

Beating Max's team put Bradon's team in the championship game and they won that one with no problem.

They had a little trophy ceremony...

Doesn't Bradon look thrilled about getting a trophy? Come on Bradon, crack a smile! Oh yeah I forgot to mention why Bradon is wearing his running shoes with florescent laces. He forgot his cleats at home for the second game. When he got clear across town for the game and he realized that he had forgot them he asked if we could go back to get them. And from the picture I bet you can guess what the answer was!

Way to go big guy!
And way to go team for turning it around!
Major improvement from the first game to the last!

Happy Fathers Day!

Fathers Day morning we decided to take Jeannine to Olympic Park. Now just because we were going to see where the Winter Olympics took place didn't mean that the weather needed to turn to winter! But it did! We quickly threw on our sweatshirts to go with our flip flops and headed for the park.

We all took a bobsled ride... okay it was more like a picture while in a bobsled but really there isn't much of a difference right!

Jeannine busted out with some awesome moves downhill! We were all surprised! We had no idea that she could ski so well!

The kids all took turns proudly carrying the Olympic torch! Some prouder than others!

Ethan

Talan

Reagan

Bradon

And Carsten!

After checking out everything they offered for free we headed to Salt Lake City. We went to Robert and Jenny Slade's house for dinner. Jeannine's brother Harry came too! It was fun hanging out and eating with familiar faces!

Ski Town Shoot Out!

Carsten tried out for a 3rd/4th grade Elite Lacrosse team and made it! They had a tournament in Park City called the Ski Town Shoot Out. We got a hotel room and went to Park City for Father's day weekend. Well everyone except for Ethan and Bradon. They ended up coming, just not at first! Ethan had his last day of band camp that he didn't want to miss because they were having a concert. So luckily my good friend Amy who's son was also on the Elite Lacrosse team had to go back home for a ward party and picked Ethan up and brought him back to us. Bradon stayed with the Pettit family because he had his last weekend of super league baseball games to play. We met up with them and Bradon joined us for the last night and was able to spend Father's day with the family.

The tournament was pretty big. There were teams from all over {California, Texas, Colorado, Idaho, Arizona} and boys everywhere! We brought a pop up shade tent along with an ice chess full of food and set up camp.

David was asked to be apart of the coaching staff so he got a fancy dancy shirt and got to watch all the games on the other side of the field from us. LUCKY!

Carsten played pretty good! They played on full size fields and so the boys got tuckered out fast! They won a few and lost a few and saw some great competition!

Talan likes to live his life on the edge!
The edge of the field that is!

He's kind of the REBEL type!
"Don't tell me where I can and can't lay!"

Look at the size difference in these kids!
Carsten did a great job holding his own!

I don't know if you know this or not but the sun is really hot in Park City! It's like it's closer to you or something! The first day of the tournament I was really good about putting sunscreen on everyone. However the second day I accidentally forgot the sunscreen at the hotel! Ethan figured out the perfect way to shield himself from the sun! He couldn't see the game very well, but something tells me that he wasn't necessarily there to watch lacrosse!

Lacrosse is known for crazy socks! They had a store at the tournament where you could spend gobs of money! Grandma is really good at spoiling her grandchildren and didn't let Carsten down! He got argile socks and black and hot pink ones too! When he saw this picture he said, "Oh those socks look so cool!" Speaking of black and hot pink. The orthodontist said that black and hot pink rubberbands are the most popular colors among the boys!

In between the games David and I rounded up some strong men and took them with us to pick up this REALLY HEAVY piano we bought off KSL. It worked out perfect! The couple from Park City that we bought it from was moving to New Mexico and wanted us to pick it up no later than the weekend of the tournament. We emptied out the scout trailer and hauled it up with us so that we could haul this heavy thing home. We got this piano for only $200.00! Thanks guys for the use of your strong muscles!

At the end of the tournament all the players got Ski Town Shoot Out medals.

It was a fun tournament!

Our hotel was right across the street from Park City High School. Park City High School was the finish line for the Ragnar Relay race! I was sick as a dog with a sore throat that hurt like no other yet still had a sad bone inside me wishing that I was running! Weird huh?
David and I walked over to the High School to check it out. While we were there we got a phone call from Kyle Pettit. He had taken Bradon with his boys 4 wheeling after the baseball games. He was calling to arrange a meeting place for us to round up Bradon. Quite a bit into our phone conversation Kyle decided to tell me that Bradon had been in an accident and that is why they were gone so much longer than they had planned. Due to the fact he had waited so long to tell me I knew that it couldn't have been that bad. But then as he explained it all to me he said that if Bradon hadn't been wearing a helmet he's not so sure if he would have made it! WHAT?
David and I raced down to the sun dance turn off to meet up with them. I was so relieved to see Bradon!

He got out his helmet to show us. {Well actually it was David's helmet. His expensive one!} The visor and mouthpiece was busted and the helmet itself had cracks in it! Kyle told us that he flew off head first and hit the ground head first and then the 4 wheeler flipped over landing on top of him! Kyle ran to him and flipped the 4 wheeler off of him using pure adrenalin! He said that Bradon jumped right up. He bruised up his knee pretty good and scrapped up his elbow but other than that he was fine. The helmet was a lifesaver!

We brought him back to the hotel in Park City with us and all the kids were so happy to see him. It's cute to see that my kids really do love each other!

So there you have it!
It was a crazy long busy fun exciting weekend!
And we all survived it!

Happy Fathers Day David!
