Carsten tried out for a 3rd/4th grade Elite Lacrosse team and made it! They had a tournament in Park City called the Ski Town Shoot Out. We got a hotel room and went to Park City for Father's day weekend. Well everyone except for Ethan and Bradon. They ended up coming, just not at first! Ethan had his last day of band camp that he didn't want to miss because they were having a concert. So luckily my good friend Amy who's son was also on the Elite Lacrosse team had to go back home for a ward party and picked Ethan up and brought him back to us. Bradon stayed with the Pettit family because he had his last weekend of super league baseball games to play. We met up with them and Bradon joined us for the last night and was able to spend Father's day with the family.
The tournament was pretty big. There were teams from all over {California, Texas, Colorado, Idaho, Arizona} and boys everywhere! We brought a pop up shade tent along with an ice chess full of food and set up camp.
David was asked to be apart of the coaching staff so he got a fancy dancy shirt and got to watch all the games on the other side of the field from us. LUCKY!
Carsten played pretty good! They played on full size fields and so the boys got tuckered out fast! They won a few and lost a few and saw some great competition!
Talan likes to live his life on the edge!
The edge of the field that is!
He's kind of the REBEL type!
"Don't tell me where I can and can't lay!"
Look at the size difference in these kids!
Carsten did a great job holding his own!
I don't know if you know this or not but the sun is really hot in Park City! It's like it's closer to you or something! The first day of the tournament I was really good about putting sunscreen on everyone. However the second day I accidentally forgot the sunscreen at the hotel! Ethan figured out the perfect way to shield himself from the sun! He couldn't see the game very well, but something tells me that he wasn't necessarily there to watch lacrosse!
Lacrosse is known for crazy socks! They had a store at the tournament where you could spend gobs of money! Grandma is really good at spoiling her grandchildren and didn't let Carsten down! He got argile socks and black and hot pink ones too! When he saw this picture he said, "Oh those socks look so cool!" Speaking of black and hot pink. The orthodontist said that black and hot pink rubberbands are the most popular colors among the boys!
In between the games David and I rounded up some strong men and took them with us to pick up this REALLY HEAVY piano we bought off KSL. It worked out perfect! The couple from Park City that we bought it from was moving to New Mexico and wanted us to pick it up no later than the weekend of the tournament. We emptied out the scout trailer and hauled it up with us so that we could haul this heavy thing home. We got this piano for only $200.00! Thanks guys for the use of your strong muscles!

At the end of the tournament all the players got Ski Town Shoot Out medals.
It was a fun tournament! Our hotel was right across the street from Park City High School. Park City High School was the finish line for the Ragnar Relay race! I was sick as a dog with a sore throat that hurt like no other yet still had a sad bone inside me wishing that I was running! Weird huh?
David and I walked over to the High School to check it out. While we were there we got a phone call from Kyle Pettit. He had taken Bradon with his boys 4 wheeling after the baseball games. He was calling to arrange a meeting place for us to round up Bradon. Quite a bit into our phone conversation Kyle decided to tell me that Bradon had been in an accident and that is why they were gone so much longer than they had planned. Due to the fact he had waited so long to tell me I knew that it couldn't have been that bad. But then as he explained it all to me he said that if Bradon hadn't been wearing a helmet he's not so sure if he would have made it! WHAT?
David and I raced down to the sun dance turn off to meet up with them. I was so relieved to see Bradon!
He got out his helmet to show us. {Well actually it was David's helmet. His expensive one!} The visor and mouthpiece was busted and the helmet itself had cracks in it! Kyle told us that he flew off head first and hit the ground head first and then the 4 wheeler flipped over landing on top of him! Kyle ran to him and flipped the 4 wheeler off of him using pure adrenalin! He said that Bradon jumped right up. He bruised up his knee pretty good and scrapped up his elbow but other than that he was fine. The helmet was a lifesaver!
We brought him back to the hotel in Park City with us and all the kids were so happy to see him. It's cute to see that my kids really do love each other!
So there you have it!
It was a crazy long busy fun exciting weekend!
And we all survived it!
Happy Fathers Day David!
