Ethan is going into the 7th grade and had to choose to either play in the band or sing in the choir. He chose to play the Baritone (Small Tuba) in the band. This summer he went to band camp during the whole month of June.
At the end of the camp they put on a concert. Ethan's Grandma Adair was here and had the opportunity of going to hear him play. Each beginning band section played a few numbers and then the intermediate band followed them. It was awesome to see how much these kids learned in just 4 short weeks and then it was amazing to hear the potential they have in just one short year! After the intermediate band preformed, in marched through the back doors of the auditorium the American Fork Marching Band! They came in filling all the isles of the auditorium. It was AMAZING! I don't know what it is about listening to a really good band play, but it brings tears to my eyes every time! I turned to look at Jeannine and her eyes were filled with tears too! It was so moving! I told Jeannine that if that didn't motivate EVERY SINGLE ONE of those beginning band students to want to be in the marching band someday, NOTHING WILL!
What a treat! Thanks Ethan for choosing to play in the band and allowing us to not only hear YOU play but to have the opportunity of hearing such a magnificent marching band too!

This is crazy! Thats exactly the obscure instrument my husband played throughout Jr High, High School, Kent State University, ASU, and the ARMY band. Did Ethan know that he has an uncle who is an accomplished baritone player? Too funny.
